Atiku Abubakar has won the African Democratic Congress presidential primary in Sokoto State. He secured the ticket after voting across all 23 local government areas.

Prof. Aminu Abubakar, the state chief returning officer, announced the results on Monday.

"I hereby declare Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as the presidential candidate with the highest votes," he said.

Atiku polled 68,823 votes to win decisively. Muhammad Hayatuddeen came second with just 319 votes, while Rotimi Amaechi got 292.

Officials from INEC and security personnel witnessed the announcement. Former governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal was among the party stakeholders present at the event.

ADC's governorship candidate in the state, Mannir Dan Iya, also attended the ceremony. Other prominent figures included senatorial candidate Faruk Malami Yabo and party chairman Abdullahi Maigwandu.
