North West University's ASUU chapter has demanded immediate action from federal and Kano State governments. The union wants all outstanding allowances under the 2025 ASUU-FGN agreement paid without delay.

In a statement released Monday after last week's congress, the chapter warned patience is running out. Any further delays risk destabilising the entire university system, officials cautioned.

Two key allowances remain unimplemented. The Consolidated Academic Tools Allowance and Secretariat Assistance Allowance were supposed to begin in January 2026.

Mansur Said, the chapter's chairperson, told members no real progress has happened so far. He said they've written repeatedly to university management and the Kano government without results.

According to him, staff welfare directly impacts university stability and output. "Delays in paying approved benefits create unnecessary hardship," he noted during the meeting.

Said added that unpaid entitlements pile up into massive arrears over time. Timely payments would have prevented this problem entirely, he stressed.

ASUU is calling on all stakeholders to work faster on resolving the matter. Keeping promises to university workers is vital for industrial peace, the union argued.

Officials reaffirmed they remain open to talks with government. However, they made clear their patience won't last forever if action isn't taken.

"We expect necessary steps without further delay," ASUU's statement read. "Staff, students and the entire university community depend on this."
