APC Presidential Aspirants urge Oshiomhole to resign; save party from more defeats

This may not be the best time for the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Adams Oshiomhole as he has been urged to resigned honourably following the party’s poor performance during the 2019 election leading to the lose five APC-controlled state to the PDP.

Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, APC National Chairman

Making this call, at press conference jointly organized by the coalition of 2019 APC Ex-Presidential aspirants and the  Forum of Core APC held on  May 28, 2019, they urged the party national chairman to save APC from further defeats by taken the pat of honour.

The frowned at the lost of Imo, Zamfara, Sokoto, Bauchi, Oyo and Plateau States during the governorship election to the PDP due largely to the crisis which engulfed the party following the poor handily of internal party squabbles by Oshiomhole, who rather than quell the crisis decided to fuel it by taking side.

The press statement which was signed by Alhaji Mumakai-Unagha, APC Presidential Aspirant reads: “there is no doubt, you are aware that our party (APC) performed poorly during the Presidential, National Assembly, Governorship and House of Assembly Elections. Instead of the party reclaiming some states, we lost the ones we were holding onto. This state includes, Imo, Zamfara, Sokoto, Bauchi, Oyo and Plateau States.

There were other potential states APC would have won if the National Chairman of the Party Adams Oshiomhole had listen to the voice of reason and immaculate judgment to resolving the crisis he created within the hierarchy in the party across the federation.

Rather than addressing the crisis, he fuelled them making us believed that he is anti APC. When he unilaterally hiked the cost of obtaining Presidential, National Assembly, Governorship and House of Assembly nomination forms, we raised alarm and our alarm did not see the light of the day. He created crisis virtually in almost all the thirty six states of the Federation. As we address this conference, his home state Edo is currently on fire and there is possibility that the party may lose the forth coming election in Edo state if urgent step is not taken.

The national chairman has done more damage than good to the party. In the light of the above, we, the coalition of 2019 APC ex-presidential aspirants and Forum of Core APC wish to renew our call on the national chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole to honorably resign to save the party from imminent collapse.

He has caused more damage to the party and he should give peace a chance. We are also calling on President Muhammadu Buhari to intervene to save the party from going into extinction. If urgent steps are not taken now, Oshiomhole will kill the party.

President Muhammadu Buhari and the National Leader of Party, Ahmed Tinubu should prevail on Oshiomhole to step outside as he has created more division than unity in the party. As it is, Oshiomhole cannot lead the party as we have no confidence in him any longer. There is no time better than now for the National Chairman of the party to resign.
