APC Chieftain Urges Tinubu to Resolve Ganduje-Kwankwaso Dispute and Consider NNPP Merger

Salihu Lukman, a former member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Working Committee (NWC), has called on President Bola Tinubu to address the political dispute between the party’s National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, and New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) ex-presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso.

Lukman suggested that Tinubu and the APC leadership should consider a merger with the NNPP to strengthen the party’s support base in Kano State.

In a statement, Lukman emphasized the importance of honesty and progressiveness within the APC, acknowledging that Kwankwaso and his NNPP have a stronger support base in Kano.

He highlighted the history of collaboration between Ganduje and Kwankwaso, suggesting that it is essential to revisit the issues surrounding their disagreement.

Lukman advised against limiting the engagement of the APC’s political challenges in Kano to the bribery allegation against Ganduje.

He proposed that the party’s leaders should be open to negotiating a political alliance or a merger with the NNPP to expand the APC’s support base.

President Tinubu and the APC must seize the opportunity presented by the current political climate to renegotiate the party’s support base and reignite its progressive credentials, according to Lukman.

He stressed the importance of addressing the dispute and considering a merger with the NNPP to strengthen the party’s position in Kano and beyond.

The call for President Tinubu to resolve the political dispute between Ganduje and Kwankwaso, and to consider a merger with the NNPP, represents a significant step towards consolidating the APC’s support base and reinforcing its progressive stance.

It remains to be seen whether the party’s leadership will heed Lukman’s advice and engage in negotiations to strengthen the APC’s position in Kano and across the country.
