Senator Ned Nwoko has intensified the campaign for the creation of Anioma State, leading a high-powered delegation of traditional rulers, political leaders, and key stakeholders to a strategic meeting with Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin.

The visit marks a significant step in advancing the push for constitutional backing for the proposed state, as proponents deepen efforts to consolidate national support and drive the initiative through legislative processes at the National Assembly.

Addressing the gathering, Nwoko emphasized that the agitation for Anioma State transcends personal ambition, describing it as a collective aspiration of the people. He noted that the proposal has consistently been presented before the legislature, supported by sustained engagement with lawmakers and its inclusion in ongoing constitutional amendment deliberations. According to him, the growing visibility of the Anioma cause reflects deliberate advocacy, expanding awareness, and increasing acceptance across different levels of governance.

He further stressed that the delegation’s visit was not merely symbolic but a demonstration of coordinated resolve and strategic determination to actualize statehood. The lawmaker maintained that the unity among stakeholders continues to strengthen the legitimacy and urgency of the demand.

In his response, Senator Barau Jibrin commended the delegation for its unity and structured approach, describing their engagement as constructive and firmly rooted in constitutional processes. He acknowledged the complexity involved in state creation in Nigeria, noting that it requires extensive consultations, broad political consensus, and strict adherence to legislative procedures.

Jibrin specifically praised Nwoko’s persistence in keeping the Anioma State proposal prominent on the national agenda and assured the delegation of institutional support within the limits of his office. He also urged continued nationwide engagement to build the critical consensus necessary for success.

Speaking on behalf of the traditional institution, Henry Kikachukwu expressed appreciation for the warm reception and assurances received, describing the meeting as a strong reflection of unity and shared purpose among the Anioma people. Other monarchs, including Charles Anyasi and Michael Ogbolu, echoed the sentiment, highlighting what they described as an unprecedented level of cohesion across Anioma communities.

The delegation departed the meeting with renewed optimism, expressing confidence that sustained advocacy, strategic alliances, and unified action will further advance the Anioma State proposal within the constitutional amendment process. The engagement ended with a clear commitment to continued dialogue, stronger collaboration, and unwavering unity as key drivers of the movement going forward.
