Amotekun Corps Thwarts Bank Robbery, Apprehends Mastermind and 35 Other Suspects in Ondo State

The Ondo State Security Network Agency, commonly known as Amotekun, successfully foiled a bank robbery and kidnapping attempt in Irele Local Government Area of the state.

The brave Amotekun operatives also managed to apprehend 36 suspects involved in various criminal activities, including the mastermind of the bank robbery.

According to the Commander of the Corps, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, the 7-man armed robbery gang had traveled from Sapele, Delta State with the intention of carrying out a dual operation involving bank robbery and kidnapping.

While six of the armed robbers managed to escape, the Amotekun operatives were able to capture the mastermind who had provided accommodation for the criminals.

In addition to the foiled bank robbery, Amotekun also apprehended suspects who specialized in vandalism of critical government assets.

This included a group that attempted to steal pipes from a World Bank-financed water project in the state.

The suspects were caught while trying to offload the stolen pipes at a different location.

Commander Adeleye emphasized the importance of collaboration with other security agencies in the state and the need for residents to continue providing timely and actionable information to support Amotekun’s efforts in securing lives and properties.

He also assured the public that a manhunt is underway for the six escaped armed robbers, with the security agency working closely with relevant government and security authorities in Delta State to apprehend the criminals.

This successful operation by Amotekun demonstrates the effectiveness of the security network in tackling crime in Ondo State and highlights the importance of cooperation between security agencies and the public in maintaining a safe and secure environment for all residents.
