Aladja-Ogbe Ijaw dispute: Delta Govt to share land for both communities, threatens to deal with anyone fomenting trouble

Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has said state government will divide the parcel of land causing communal crisis between Aladja and Ogbe-Ijaw communities as a way of finding a lasting solution to incessant land crisis.

Dr. Okowa gave this disclosure during the first quarterly media briefing for the year 2018 with Journalists at the Government House, Asaba on Wednesday, March 22.
Governor Okowa said that the State Government decided to adopt this step in order to ensure that the right thing was done to the benefits of all, as against calls from some quarters that government should take over the disputed land.
“I remain committed to doing what is right and doing what is right that will bring peace to our communities,’’ the Governor Said.
The governor also stated that necessary actions will be taken against those perpetuating acts that are capable of scaring investors from coming to the state. The governor assured that it will no longer be business as usual as any one who violates the laws will be made to bear wrath.
“We will not take it lightly with our youths making it difficult to make investors come’’, Governor Okowa said, adding, “The more we stop investors from coming, the more we are destroying the future.’’
He called on the youths and all stakeholders in the state to help in providing the enabling environment for investors to stay and more attracted to the State.
