Human rights campaigner Aisha Yesufu says Abuja deserves three senators, matching other Nigerian states. She made the argument at a community event in the territory.

Yesufu noted that population-wise, the FCT surpasses ten states. By land area alone, it's larger than eight states combined.

"There's no justification for keeping us at one senator," she told supporters. The territory should have three senators and at least six House members, she argued.

She believes better representation will strengthen Abuja's voice in the National Assembly. Right now, one person speaks for the FCT in the Senate chamber.

"With three senators, our concerns get heard three times over," Yesufu explained. Multiple representatives mean residents gain real legislative power and attention.

The activist plans to champion this cause if elected as senator. "It won't be simple, but it's absolutely achievable," she said.

Yesufu is contesting for the FCT senate seat in 2027. Her campaign centers on expanding the territory's representation at the national level.
