Massive Crowds welcome Omo-Agege to Delta

The ancient and commercial city of Ughelli in Delta State stood still on Saturday for an illustrious son of Delta as leaders and thousands of supporters and members of the All-Progressives Congress (APC) across the state welcomed him home after eight years of meritorious service to the country as the senator that represented Delta Central from 2015 to 2023.

Omo-Agege, who had earlier been received at Osubi Airport in Osubi town by Senator Ede Dafinone, Rep Francis Waive and other top leaders of the party, drove in a motorcade to Ughelli amidst cheers and praises from market women and residents.

It was the first time the 2023 APC governorship candidate will be returning home to Delta since the last general elections where the party won two Senate seats, House of Representatives seat and seven seats in the State House of Assembly.

The former DSP while addressing a mammoth crowd of political supporters and admirers who trooped out to receive him, urged them to continue President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration.

Appreciating the people for the honour of the homecoming reception, Omo-Agege who was the 2023 governorship candidate of ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State stated: “Chiefly, I am here to thank you, our dear people, for your overwhelming electoral support over the years, especially during the 2023 Delta State Governorship Election. With your massive votes, you voted for a new direction in the governance of our State. Convinced as civilised democrats that your votes gave us a clear victory under our laws, we challenged the unfavorable outcome in court.

“Before 2023, were told that Delta is PDP, that there is no APC in Delta, but today, we know better, APC controls two senatorial districts because of your voting power, the great people of Delta State came out en-mass and voted for APC because you wanted change in the governance of Delta State and you voted for me and I thank.

“And for the first time you voted for our party and we produced two senators, one from Delta Central and another from Delta South, this is unprecedented and if not for the evil plot in Delta North, APC would have won the three senatorial districts.”

Omo-Agege while assuaging party faithful who are not too happy with the turn of event after they all campaigned, taking the Renewed Hope Matra of President Bola Tinubu to the nooks and crannies of the state, assured them that better days are ahead.

According to him, “President Tinubu has not disappointed us so far, and in his eight years in office, he will transform Nigeria like he did in Lagos.

“We championed and fought for the actualization of the aspirations of President Bola Tinubu, we took his message of the Renew Hope Agenda to all nooks and crannies of Delta State.

“I want to appeal to some of you who have not received your just recompense, please be patient, some have had theirs, and I am confident that the President will remember everybody.

“However, one thing is clear, the president has not disappointed us, when we went out championing the Tinubu presidential project, we did that because we knew his track record as governor of Lagos State.

He changed APC faithful in Delta State and Nigerians to continue to pray and support President Bola Tinubu administration, because if he succeeds Nigerian also succeed.

“We believe that in 8 years President Tinubu will turn things around for this country and all of us will benefit from it, hence we must continue to pray and support him.

“Now that I have come home officially after the 2023 elections, I am going to be coming more often to interact with you as we prepare for 2027, we lost 2023, but for sure, 2027, APC will get back Delta State.

The elaborate occasion had in attendance Senator Ede Dafinone, Senator Joel Onohwakpo-Thomas (represented by Architect Amby Okuhor), Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, Rt. Hon. Friday Osanebi (former Deputy Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly and Omo-Agege’s 2023 running mate), and Rt. Hon. (Rev.) Francis Ejiroghene Waive of the House of Representatives. Others include Rt. Hon. Monday Igbuya (former Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly and present Commissioner, NDDC), Hon. Daniel Reyeneju, Hon. Blessyn Brume-Ataguba (Federal Commissioner, National Population Commission), Hon. Francis Atanomeyovwi (Federal Commissioner, National Assembly Service Commissioner), and Hon.
