Abia State Government Warns Residents About N10,000 Federal Relief Fund Scam

The Abia State Government has issued a warning to its residents about an alleged N10,000 federal relief fund scam targeting unsuspecting members of the public.

The scam, which claims that Governor Alex Otti has urged the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation to provide financial relief to Abia residents, has been declared a fraudulent scheme by the state government.

According to a statement by the Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, the scam aims to exploit vulnerable individuals facing economic hardship and high inflation.

The scammers have also provided a link for people to apply for the relief fund, but the government advises against clicking on it as it could lead to the theft of personal and banking information.

The Abia State Government has distanced itself from the scam and warned its residents to refrain from engaging with the scammers.

The government has also urged the public to report the perpetrators to security agencies if their identities are known.

The state government has emphasized that it has proper channels of communication to the people and will use those channels to inform them of any legitimate relief initiatives.

In the meantime, the public is advised to ignore the publication about the purported relief funds, as they are non-existent.

In conclusion, the Abia State Government has taken proactive measures to protect its residents from falling victim to the N10,000 federal relief fund scam.

It is important for the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
