Senator Abba Moro expressed profound grief over Tuesday's deadly attack in Apa Local Government Area. Multiple residents lost their lives, including health worker Ojama Emie, who was beheaded.
Armed attackers ambushed Ojama along the Ikobi-Olegogba road. They allegedly severed his head and made off with it.
Moro's media adviser, Emmanuel Eche'Ofun John, released a statement on his behalf. The senator called the killings heartbreaking and deeply troubling.
He condemned what he termed the deteriorating security crisis across Benue South. Communities in the district face relentless threats from armed groups, he noted.
According to the lawmaker, security agencies have failed to stop the violence. He demanded urgent intervention from state and federal authorities.
"Residents deserve to live peacefully and safely," Moro told reporters through his statement. They should carry out daily activities without fear of attack, he added.
Moro pledged solidarity with the people of Ikobi and surrounding communities. He urged all levels of government to prioritize protecting lives and property.
The senator extended condolences to Ojama's family and other bereaved households. He prayed for the peaceful rest of all victims' souls.
Benue South has witnessed recurring attacks by armed assailants in recent months. Security remains a critical concern for residents across the region.
