There should be end to litigation, group advises Omurhirhen …Urges him to leave Oborevwori alone

The Okpe Renaissance, a Pan-Okpe pressure group has asked all those who contested the Delta State House of Assembly election especially Chief Hero Omurhirhen, Labour Party (LP) candidate in the April 11, 2015 House of Assembly election to leave Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori who won the election and currently representing Okpe Constituency. 

Comrade Joseph Biokoro and Philip Dadogwaye, President and Secretary of the group seeking good governance and better deal for Okpe sons and daughters in a signed statement made available to journalists after their emergency meeting in Opuraja, Okpe Local Government Area over the weekend express shock and outraged at Chief Omurhirhen, for going to the Appeal Court to challenge the victory of Oborevwori at the election petition tribunal.

They stated further that Oborevwori did not only win “but won the election convincingly based on the votes cast and the margin of votes between.” Adding that it is high time Chief Omurhirhen should sheath his sword because the people of Okpe are in need of development not litigations which we take us all to nowhere; because when there is a contest, someone must win.”

The group also stated that if Chief Omurhirhen, would not yield to their plea they may stage a peaceful protest to press home their point. “Our next action is to match to Chief Omurhirhen, Udogun in Council and our respected monarch Umogu to intervene in this matter, we are also calling Omurhirhen to withdraw his appeal enough is enough. We need democratic dividends in Okpe not litigations.”

Noting that the legal battle by Chief Omurhirhen is causing distraction to Hon. Oborevwori, adding that having been defeated in the general election and the election petition tribunal; “we are advising him to withdraw his appeal because he will fail still and there no need wasting resources.”

They stated further that during the electioneering campaign, while PDP was campaigning based on issues; the Labour Party in Okpe was attacking personalities, “so, we are not surprise that Oborevwori won the election which was upheld by the election petition tribunal at Asaba.

The group calls on His Royal majesty, Orhue 1, Orodje of Okpe, Okpe Traditional Council of Chiefs and prominent Okpe sons and daughters to prevail on Chief Hero Omurhirhen to withdraw his appeal in order not to plug Okpe into crisis in his desperate bid to fulfill his ambition.

They urged Chief Omurhirhen to show the spirit of sportsmanship and accept Hon. Oborevwori as brother rather than seeing politics as a do or die affairs.
