NAFDAC Investigates Contaminated Fried Plantain Chips in Lagos

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has launched an investigation into the alleged contamination of fried plantain chips in Lagos.

The agency’s action comes in response to a viral social media post that showed a woman allegedly melting five pieces of polythene into the oil used for frying plantain chips.

The Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA) has also issued a warning to consumers to be cautious when purchasing fried plantain chips.

The agency has urged residents to report any concerns to LASCOPA’s offices in Ikeja, Badagry, Bariga, and Ikorodu.

NAFDAC’s investigation aims to verify the claims made in the viral post and take necessary action based on its findings.

The agency has assured the public of its commitment to safeguarding public health and has advised consumers to remain vigilant when purchasing NAFDAC-regulated food products.

This incident has sparked a debate on social media about the need for better regulation of food production and the importance of ensuring the safety of food products.

It remains to be seen what the outcome of NAFDAC’s investigation will be, but it is clear that the issue of food safety is one that is of great concern to the public.
