2 men docked for alleged burglary, theft of property worth N2.2m

Two men, Lawal lukmon, 40 and Atubi Friday, 33, were on Monday docked at an Ikorodu Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State for alleged burglary and theft of property worth N2.2 million.

The defendants, whose house addresses were not provided, were charged on a-three-count of conspiracy, felony to wit entering and stealing.

The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Prosecutor, DSP Gbemileke Agoi, told the court that the defendants committed the offences between February 2022 and March 2023, at No10, Sholumade village, Macaulay area in Ikorodu.

Agoi alleged that the defendants conspired with their accomplices, now at large, to break and enter into the residence of the complainant, one Ernest Fubara and stole several items.

The prosecutor said some of the items allegedly stolen were 24 inches TV, one keyboard, linear generator, matress, big OX fan, double door standing fridge and a Freezer.

Others items he said were electrical wires, wrist watches, one set of home theatre, four bags containing clothes, 25kg gas cylinder, 12kg gas cylinder and dozen of breakable plates.

He also alleged that the defendants stole big cooler, tradional beads and attire, 40 pieces of used zinc, brief case, among others.

According to the prosecutor, the offences contravened the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs A.B Olagbegi-Adelabu, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N250,000 each with two sureties in like sum.

Olagbegi-Adelabu, ordered that the sureties must have means of livelihood and their address verified.

She adjourned the case until June 22 for mention.
