2 in court for allegedly stealing soft drinks worth over N2m

A Salesman, Habeeb Korede and a Trader, David Oguzie were on Friday docked before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos for allegedly stealing soft drinks worth N2.030 million.

Korede, 30, who resides at 30, Yomi Saree Street in Fagba area of Lagos and Oguzie, 26, who resides at 409, Ajakaye Street in Abule Egba, Lagos are being tried for conspiracy and stealing.

The Prosecutor, ASP Raji Akeem told the court that defendants and one other at large allegedly stole the soft drinks belonging to one Mrs Betty Oyeride.

Akeem said they committed the offences between September 2022 and March 14, at a distribution outlet on Ogba Road, Agege, Lagos.

The prosecutor said that Habeeb is Oyeride’s salesman.

The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Bola Osunsanmi granted the defendants bail in the sum of N200,000 each with two sureties in like sum.

Osunsanmi adjourned the case until May 30 for mention.
