Fresh Crisis rocks Evwreni, 3 persons allegedly killed

Barely 24 hours after the Delta State Government issued a white paper on the Evwreni crisis in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State suspected gunmen believed to be vigilante has allegedly killed 3 persons.

Recall that Delta Government, on Tuesday, said it would issue a white paper on the report of the Judicial Panel of Inquiry into the intra communal conflict in Evwreni town, Ughelli North Local Government Area of the state.

Reliable source told Advocate.ng that the 3 persons were allegedly shot on Tuesday night close to the Monarch palace, by vigilante alleged to be loyal to the monarch.

According to our source who spoke in confidence, “the incident happened very close to the king palace and it was over minor disputes between two members of the disbanded Vigilante group”

The source said one certain Festus Wilfred and Ese Ochuko Emmanuel had an argument, which led to one Festus Wilfred allegedly shooting one of the deceased, Ese Emmanuel Ochuko, dead after which he fled.

“When the other vigilante noticed the death of their colleague, they then took revenge on the other group of vigilant, attacking and killing the killer’s mother and son.

As at the time of filling in this report there is still palpable tension in Community.

All efforts to confirm the report were unsuccessful as call and message sent to the State Police Public Relations Officer was responded to as of the time of going to press.

Advocate.ng reports that monarch of Evwreni Kingdom, HRM Oghenekevwe Kumane and two of his subjects were recently arraigned for alleged terrorism and murder before Hon Justice Okon Effreti Abang of the Federal High Court, Warri, Delta State following the crisis in the community leading to the death of 3 persons.

The other two suspects arraign alongside with traditional ruler in amended 10-Count charges in suit no: FHC/WR/95C/2020 are, Atiri Stephen, Kelly Omojughere Kumane over an alleged crisis that led to the murder of Omoghene Akakor and Sylvester Adjogbe.
