Zamfara Residents Demand Reinstatement of Military Troops in Bini Village

Residents of Bini village in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State have taken to the streets in protest against the recent withdrawal of military troops from their area.

The peaceful march to the Government House in Gusau was a clear message to the state government that the people of Bini village are not willing to compromise on their safety and security.

According to the protesters, the decision to withdraw the military troops was made without any prior consultation or explanation, leaving the community vulnerable to attacks from bandits.

The residents, who carried their belongings and provisions, expressed their frustration and fear over the lack of security in their village.

They recounted incidents of shooting by bandits, which left many community members injured and in need of medical attention.

The protesters were received by the State Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Wadatau Madawaki, and his counterpart in the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, Abdul Malik Gajam.

The commissioners assured the protesters that the state government is committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents in the state.

They promised to work towards the redeployment of troops to Bini village and other troubled communities in the state.

Madawaki reiterated the Dauda Lawal administration’s stance on not negotiating with bandits, emphasizing the government’s resolve to root out banditry from the state.

The commissioners urged the protesters to remain calm and assured them that the state government is doing its best to address their concerns.

The protest by the residents of Bini village is a stark reminder of the challenges faced by communities in Zamfara State and the urgent need for effective measures to combat banditry and ensure the safety and security of all citizens.
