World Bank Applauds Governor Mbah’s Efforts in Water and Agriculture Development

The World Bank has commended Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State for his developmental strides in the areas of water and agriculture, particularly livestock farming.

The National Coordinator of the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES), Sanusi Abubakar, praised the governor’s efforts during a working visit to Government House, Enugu.

L-PRES is a six-year World Bank-assisted project under the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, which aims to improve productivity and commercialization of livestock value chains.

The project’s team is in Enugu to support and complement the state government’s efforts in commercial livestock agriculture and value chain development.

Governor Mbah’s administration has made significant progress in meeting the project onboarding criteria, with its commitment to agriculture, provision of water, and development projects.

These efforts have been recognized by the World Bank as essential for sustainable livestock production and addressing systemic weaknesses and challenges in the livestock sector in the state.

The World Bank team also acknowledged the state government’s strides in the provision of potable water through its water project, construction of rural roads networks, and investment commitment in agriculture.

These initiatives are crucial for creating value for the state and bringing progress to the people of Enugu State.

Governor Mbah, represented by Deputy Governor Barr. Ifeanyi Ossai, expressed gratitude to the World Bank team for their efforts in supporting the state’s development.

He emphasized the state government’s commitment to playing its part in partnerships that would create value and progress for the people of Enugu State.
