Wike: ‘Those With Integrity, Character Are With Us’ – Fubara Lauds Odili for Declaring Him Rivers Political Leader

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has praised former Governor Peter Odili for declaring him the political leader of the state, highlighting Odili’s character and integrity.

This endorsement has intensified the ongoing struggle for control of the state’s political structure between Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, who is the current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Odili publicly announced his support for Fubara last week, stating that the people of Rivers have asked him to declare Fubara as the political leader of the state.

Fubara expressed his happiness about Odili’s backing, noting that it has caused “people high blood pressure” and made his detractors restless, granting media interviews.

Fubara emphasized the importance of standing on the right side, even if it means standing alone. He believes that having one person with integrity and character, like Odili, is better than having 1,000 people with questionable character.

This statement comes as a response to Wike’s criticism of some PDP leaders in Rivers for lacking integrity and declaring support for Fubara.

Wike had previously described these leaders as “expired politicians” who are not worthy of being called “elder statesmen”.

The ongoing power struggle between Fubara and Wike is a reflection of the political dynamics within the state, with both sides seeking to assert their influence and control over the state’s political structure.

As the situation continues to unfold, the people of Rivers State will be watching closely to see how the political landscape evolves and whether Fubara and Odili’s partnership will bring about positive change and progress for the state.
