Torrential Rain Wreaks Havoc in Ogun: ₦100m Worth of Vehicles and Electrical Infrastructure Damaged

A torrential downpour lasting over an hour and 20 minutes unleashed its fury on the Sango-Ota under the bridge and Oju-Ore area in Ogun on Sunday.

The heavy rain, which began around 11:30 am, left a trail of destruction in its wake, affecting vehicles, electrical poles, and wires. The estimated damages have been reported to exceed ₦100 million, with no loss of life recorded.

The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) has confirmed the incident, stating that a technical team has been deployed to the affected areas.

According to Busolami Tunwase, Lead of Media Relations at IBEDC, the company is aware of the situation and is taking the necessary steps to address the damages.

In light of the extensive damage to electrical infrastructure, IBEDC has urged the public to stay clear of any electrical poles, wires, and other installations until they can safely clear the area.

This precautionary measure is essential for the safety of residents and the efficient restoration of services.

As the community in Ogun grapples with the aftermath of the heavy rain, the focus now shifts to recovery and rebuilding.

The swift response of IBEDC to deploy a technical team demonstrates their commitment to restoring normalcy in the affected areas.
