Tinubu’s Measured Approach to Restructuring: Balancing Progress and Stability in Nigeria

President Bola Tinubu recently met with the National Leader of the pan-Yoruba socio-political organization, Afenifere, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, in Akure, Ondo State.

During the closed-door meeting, the President assured Nigerians that his administration will restructure the country as promised earlier, but noted that a good foundation must be laid before implementing the changes.

Tinubu emphasized the importance of building solid structures that will not be reversed, and that the restructuring will bring Nigeria back to where it is supposed to be.

He also acknowledged the challenges and hardships that Nigerians are currently facing and expressed confidence that the policies the government is implementing will bring positive solutions.

The President also highlighted the need for Nigeria to grow its own food and to rely less on foreign sources.

In response, Pa Fasoranti emphasized the importance of true federalism and regional competition, and the need for a review of the 2014 National Constitutional Conference to help guide the restructuring process.

For the South-West, the issue of restructuring has a more pressing meaning, as the region is facing an influx of migration from other zones of the country.

The President was urged to ensure that state governments allow the recent changes in the country to reflect at the grassroots level so that life can be better for the people.

Overall, President Tinubu’s visit to Afenifere was well-received, and the President’s commitment to restructuring and improving the Nigerian economy was evident.
