Tinubu Cancels 72nd Birthday Celebration: Urges Focus on Nation Building and Charity Donations

President Bola Tinubu has decided to cancel his 72nd birthday celebration, which falls on March 29, 2024.

Instead of hosting an event, the President has chosen to use the occasion to reflect and re-dedicate himself to the task of building a more stable, secure, prosperous, and united Nigeria.

In a statement released by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, President Tinubu acknowledged the challenging times Nigeria is currently facing and expressed his desire to focus on the nation’s well-being.

He also mentioned the recent killing of Nigerian Army and Police officers in Delta State and the ongoing security issues across the country.

As a gesture of goodwill, President Tinubu has requested that friends and associates refrain from placing birthday goodwill advertorial messages in newspapers, on radio, or TV stations.

Instead, he has encouraged them to donate the money to charity organizations of their choice in his name.

While the President appreciates the bravery of the Nigerian armed forces in freeing the children kidnapped in Kuriga, Kaduna State, and Sokoto State, he believes that his birthday should be a time for reflection and recommitment to the development of Nigeria.

In the face of adversity, President Tinubu’s decision to cancel his birthday celebration demonstrates his commitment to the welfare of the Nigerian people and his determination to lead the nation towards a brighter future.
