The teaser caption promised excitement, reading: "So excited to share a peek behind the scenes of our incredible journey to Orisha. CHILDREN OF BLOOD AND BONE TRAILER drops TOMORROW!
And in theaters Jan 15!"
Ayra Starr, another Nigerian music sensation whose birth name is Oyinkansola Aderibigbe, also appears in the footage, marking her Hollywood acting debut. She features alongside an impressive ensemble cast that includes Viola Davis, Idris Elba, Cynthia Erivo, Damson Idris, Thuso Mbedu, Lashana Lynch, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Amandla Stenberg.
The Paramount Pictures adaptation draws from Tomi Adeyemi's 2018 bestselling novel, the first in the Legacy of Orïsha series. The film tells the story of Zélie Adebola, a young woman fighting to restore magic to the West African-inspired kingdom of Orïsha after it was violently stripped from her people.
The movie promises to blend blockbuster filmmaking with storytelling rooted in African mythology and culture. Both Nigerian artists have now achieved significant milestones in breaking into the international entertainment space through the project.
