Shehu Sani Advises Tinubu to Fix Economy and Avert Unplanned Protests

Former Kaduna Senator, Shehu Sani, has advised President Bola Tinubu’s administration to work hard and fix the Nigerian economy to avoid unplanned protests from angry citizens.

In a recent X post, the ex-federal lawmaker emphasized that these organic protests are led by the hungry, homeless, unemployed, and downtrodden who have nothing to lose but their shackles.

Sani’s advice comes in the wake of an exchange of words between the federal government and the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) after the latter suspended its two-day warning protest.

The government had told the Labour Union’s officials to wait until 2027 if they wanted to contest for the office of the president, stating that the protest was uncalled for.

The NLC responded by urging President Tinubu to address the hunger, unemployment, and inflation plaguing the economy, and clarified that nobody was after his office.

In his X post, Sani pointed out that the most dreadful protests are not from organized labor or civil society organizations that issue a notice before embarking on a protest, but rather from the unemployed, hungry, and homeless people who have nothing to lose.

He stressed that the government and the nation must work to avoid this kind of protest, which doesn’t come with a date of commencement or suspension.

As Nigeria’s economic challenges persist, with inflation nearing 30% and a currency in freefall, it is crucial for the government to address these issues to prevent further unrest and potential protests from the country’s most vulnerable populations.
