Rivers State Governor, Mr Siminalayi Fubara, has reaffirmed his administration's commitment to protect the interests of Rivers citizens, especially the youths.
During a solidarity visit by the youths of Emohua Local Government Area, Governor Fubara declared that there is no going back on policies and programs aimed at empowering and developing the state's youth population.
Governor Fubara, speaking through the Rivers State Head of Civil Service, Dr George Nwaeke, highlighted several ongoing and completed projects aimed at improving the livelihoods and well-being of Rivers citizens.
These projects include the recently awarded Elele-Omudiaga-Egbeda-Ubimini-Ikiri-Omoku Road and the ongoing Emohua-Kalabari Road, both of which are expected to boost economic growth and development in the region.
Additionally, Governor Fubara announced the reinstatement of illegally sacked workers of Emohua Local Government Area and the approval for the electrification of the area.
These initiatives are part of the administration's efforts to open up the area to make life more conducive and meaningful for the people.
In a separate development, Governor Fubara has also announced the appointment of Prof. Chizindu Alikor as the substantive Chief Medical Director of Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH).
The governor emphasized the importance of integrating healthcare services and development efforts to achieve overall goals, stating that workers and citizens need to be healthy to be productive and contribute to governance.
Governor Fubara highlighted the administration's efforts to revive the near-comatose health sector, which previously operated without effective secondary healthcare facilities in the state.
He noted that his administration has started intensifying efforts to rebuild and strengthen health facilities, particularly those that provide intermediary services, as well as revive zonal hospitals.
Furthermore, Governor Fubara has implemented several measures to better the lot of medical personnel in Rivers State, including approving and implementing promotion for health workers, implementing consequential salary for them, and paying hazard allowances.
The National President of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Dr Uche Ojinmah, thanked Governor Fubara for his efforts to improve the health sector and the welfare of medical personnel in the state, noting that the governor had attended to concerns that were previously ignored by the previous administration.
Governor Fubara's administration is making strides to ensure that the people of Rivers State, especially the youth, benefit from the development and empowerment initiatives aimed at improving their livelihoods and well-being.
Additionally, the governor's commitment to reviving the health sector and addressing the needs of medical personnel demonstrates his dedication to ensuring that the state's citizens have access to quality healthcare services.
