PDP Senator Denies Reports of $2 Million Bribe to Lawmakers by Wike

PDP Senator Abba Moro has refuted claims that PDP senators received $2 million in bribes from Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the FCT.

This denial comes in response to allegations that the alleged bribe was intended to influence a vote of confidence in the acting National Chairman of the PDP, Umar Damagum.

Moro, representing Benue South, stated that he had spoken to fellow senators who confirmed they were not given any money to influence party decisions.

He emphasized that the reports circulating about the alleged bribe were baseless and part of the growing trend of fake news in the country.

The senator further questioned the logic behind the alleged bribe, noting that if it had indeed been given to PDP lawmakers in the House of Representatives, it would be unlikely for 60 members to oppose Damagum’s continued leadership.

Moro highlighted the importance of party unity in the face of recent electoral losses, asserting that responsible party members would not intentionally stoke internal crises.

As the opposition party, the PDP faces challenges in maintaining stability and unity.

Moro emphasized the need for party members to work together to overcome divisions and blame games, as the stability of the party is crucial for the stability of Nigeria as a whole.

The controversy surrounding the alleged bribe highlights the ongoing challenges faced by political parties in Nigeria, as they navigate the complexities of internal politics and public perception.

As the PDP works to address these issues and move forward, it is essential for its members to prioritize transparency and unity to effectively serve as a strong opposition party.
