PDP Crisis: Atiku Declares Only God Gives Power Amid Internal Party Turmoil

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has emphasized that only God can give power, amidst the ongoing internal party turmoil.

His statement comes after the recent 98th National Executive Committee meeting of the PDP in Abuja on Thursday, which resulted in a series of intra-party resolutions aimed at ensuring the party’s stability.

During a WhatsApp group chat with some of his supporters on Friday, Atiku addressed concerns over the recent developments within the PDP.

He reassured his supporters that, ultimately, it is God who gives power, not any human being.

This message comes in response to the perceived betrayal by certain members within the party, as reported by the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba.

At the PDP’s NEC meeting, the party made several key decisions, including the reconstitution of its Disciplinary and Reconciliation Committees.

Former Akwa Ibom State governor, Emmanuel Udom, was appointed as the head of the Disciplinary Committee, while former Senate President Bukola Saraki remains the head of the Reconciliation Committee.

Despite the internal conflicts and calls for the suspension of members like former Rivers State governor and current Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Nyesome Wike, over alleged anti-party activities, the party’s leadership seems to be taking a measured approach.

At the meeting, the PDP retained the party’s former Vice Chairman (North), Umar Damagum, as the acting national chairman until the next NEC meeting.

The ongoing turmoil within the PDP has raised questions about the party’s ability to resolve internal conflicts and maintain unity ahead of future elections.

As the party navigates these challenges, it remains to be seen how the leadership will address the various concerns and allegations of anti-party activities.

Atiku’s statement serves as a reminder that, in the face of political turmoil, faith and patience are essential for those seeking leadership positions.

As the PDP works to resolve its internal issues, it is crucial for the party to maintain unity and focus on its goals for the future of Nigeria.
