On Palm Sunday, Christians worldwide commemorate the triumphant entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem.
This year, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) called on the nation’s leaders to embrace the humility exemplified by Jesus during this sacred occasion.
In a statement, CAN President Archbishop Daniel Okoh highlighted the relevance of Palm Sunday to Nigeria’s current struggles.
He emphasized the need for leaders to follow Christ’s example of humility, as well as the importance of unity and collective faith for all citizens.
“Just as the people of Jerusalem set aside their differences to welcome the Prince of Peace, let us set aside our prejudices, grievances, and animosities to foster a spirit of harmony, reconciliation, and understanding among ourselves,” he urged.
The Christian leader also emphasized the transformative power of faith and love, encouraging the nation to draw strength from the enduring message of Palm Sunday.
As Nigeria faces social unrest, economic uncertainties, and other challenges, the call for humility and unity from CAN serves as a reminder of the timeless lessons of Palm Sunday.
By embracing these values, leaders and citizens alike can work together to overcome adversity and build a stronger, more united society.
