The Advertisers Association of Nigeria has inaugurated a new leadership team to steer the organisation through 2026 to 2028. O'tega Ogra, who serves as Senior Special Assistant to the President on Digital and New Media, emerged as the association's president following elections held during the annual meeting in Lagos on Thursday.
Gloria Nwabuike, managing director of AACE Foods Ltd, takes the role of first vice president. Maurice Igugu, chief marketing officer at The Alternative Bank, steps in as second vice president.
Seni Ogunkola, vice president of brands and marketers at T2 Mobile, was elected treasurer. Adeola Amosun, group head of media at Tolaram, clinched the publicity director position.
Cassandra Uzo-Ogbugh, head of external communications, media and partnership at Reckitt Nigeria, joined the council as an executive member. James Odejimi (head of marketing at PZ), Martha Ojei Kayode (head of marketing, PZ Cussons), Omobolanle Osotule (head of brand marketing and communication at Airtel Networks), and Oge Maduakwu (head of marketing and communication at Samsung Electronics West Africa) complete the team.
The council replaces the previous leadership headed by Osamede Uwubanmwen. In his acceptance remarks, Ogra pledged to run an inclusive administration focused on delivering tangible results.
"This is not simply a mandate to occupy office. It is a responsibility to strengthen ADVAN as the leading voice of advertisers and marketing professionals in Nigeria," he said.
Ogra outlined four key priorities for his tenure: strengthening the value ADVAN provides members, building capacity among marketing professionals, deepening collaboration within the advertising and marketing sector, and enhancing ties with regulators and stakeholders.
He acknowledged that rapid industry transformation—driven by technology, artificial intelligence, data, regulation, and changing consumer behaviour—demands fresh approaches. "ADVAN must help its members understand these changes, prepare for them, and lead through them," according to him.
The new president announced plans to launch the ADVAN Institute of Marketing and Brand Leadership as part of a broader ADVAN Business School initiative. The institute would focus on research, training, professional development, and documenting Nigerian marketing knowledge and case studies.
Ogra added that structured capacity development and executive education tailored to different career stages would receive priority attention under his administration.
