Ortom Celebrates 63rd Birthday, Declares Akume as Leader and Mentor, Calls for Collaboration in Benue State

In a heartwarming celebration of his 63rd birthday, former Governor of Benue State Samuel Ortom expressed his profound respect and admiration for Senator George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), by declaring him as his leader and mentor.
The event, organized by Ortom’s former appointees, took place in Makurdi.
During the event, Ortom made a heartfelt appeal for forgiveness to Benue people and other Nigerians whom he may have offended during his eight-year tenure as governor.
He also extended forgiveness to those who may have wronged him, emphasizing the importance of peaceful coexistence.
Ortom also took the opportunity to call on his successor, Hyacinth Alia, to work closely with the SGF and other stakeholders in order to bring more development to the state.
He highlighted the significance of the SGF position being held by a Benue native for the first time and stressed the need for collaborative efforts to address issues such as herdsmen invasion and attract more dividends of democracy to the state.
Senator Akume, represented by Prof. John Tsua, spoke fondly of his journey with Ortom, emphasizing the historical and eventful nature of their relationship in shaping lives and changing events.
He praised Ortom for recognizing the burden of mentorship and leadership and expressed his commitment to continue helping and elevating people.
As Ortom celebrated his birthday, he expressed gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to the consolidation of Nigeria’s democracy, the growth of the nation, and the development of Benue State.
He also acknowledged the importance of leadership and followership in shaping the future of the state and called for unity and collaboration among all stakeholders to secure the people and land of Benue.
