Ondo Leaders Reject Aiyedatiwa’s Gubernatorial Candidacy: ‘If APC Gets It Wrong, PDP Must Get It Right

In a press conference held in Oyingbo, Lagos, leaders of the “Moment of Truth” in Ondo State have voiced their concerns and opposition against the candidacy of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for the 2024 gubernatorial election.

The leaders argued that it would be a disservice to the residents of Ondo South, where the governorship is zoned, as Aiyedatiwa would only be allowed to serve one more term in office under the constitution if elected.

Benson Enikuomehin, speaking on behalf of the leaders, criticized those supporting Aiyedatiwa as individuals who do not have the best interests of the people of Ondo South at heart.

He pointed out that other senatorial zones in the State have enjoyed two terms of eight years and that the people of Ondo South should not be deprived of their two terms, as enjoyed by former Governors in the state.

Enikuomehin appealed to the people of Ondo State to make a wise decision regarding the primary election, emphasizing the need for a credible and reliable candidate to emerge.

He also highlighted the importance of the opposition party, PDP, getting it right if the ruling APC makes a mistake in their choice.

The leaders also expressed their support for Olusola Oke as a suitable candidate for the governorship, citing his knowledge of how Agagu performed in the state and his ability to lead, govern, and direct the state’s affairs effectively.

They urged all delegates to consider Oke as the best choice for the governorship.

As stakeholders in the Ondo election, the leaders emphasized the importance of their input in who takes over the affairs of the state, noting that the decisions made by the two major political parties would have a direct or indirect impact on the state.

They stressed their responsibility to guide the people of Ondo State in the right direction and ensure that the choice of governor is taken seriously.

The 2024 gubernatorial election in Ondo State is shaping up to be a critical event, with various political leaders and groups expressing their opinions on who should lead the state for the next term.

As the election draws closer, the debate and discussions surrounding the candidates and their qualifications will undoubtedly intensify.
