Ondo APC Primary Election Controversy: Akinterinwa Alleges Ododo’s Fraudulent Results

The Ondo State All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary has been marred by controversy as one of the aspirants, Wale Akinterinwa, accused Governor Usman Ododo of Kogi State and Chairman of the primary election committee of writing the results without conducting an actual election.

Akinterinwa, in a statement by his campaign organization spokesperson, Mr. Segun Ajiboye, claimed that the APC’s primary election in the state was a “show of shame,” as no election was held in any of the 203 wards.

According to the statement, Governor Ododo arrived in Ondo State on Saturday at about 8 am to write the results of an election that never took place.

Akinterinwa’s campaign organization emphasized that the APC had missed a valuable opportunity to demonstrate its commitment to fairness and transparency by organizing a credible primary election that would have been well-received by the people of the state.

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa was announced as the governorship candidate of the APC following the alleged primary election, having received the highest number of votes.

However, Akinterinwa’s allegations cast doubt on the legitimacy of the results and the integrity of the electoral process.

The controversy surrounding the Ondo APC primary election has brought to the forefront the ongoing challenges faced by political parties in Nigeria in conducting free, fair, and credible elections.

The allegations of fraudulent results and the lack of transparency in the electoral process have raised concerns among the electorate and political observers alike.

As the situation continues to unfold, it remains to be seen what actions will be taken by the APC leadership to address the concerns raised by Akinterinwa and other stakeholders.

The outcome of the primary election and the subsequent response from the party will undoubtedly have significant implications for the APC’s prospects in the upcoming gubernatorial election in Ondo State.

The Ondo APC primary election controversy has exposed the need for political parties in Nigeria to prioritize transparency, fairness, and the rule of law in their electoral processes.

The allegations of fraudulent results and the failure to conduct a proper election in Ondo State highlight the importance of ensuring that the democratic process is respected and upheld.
