Ogun Police Arrest Suspect in Connection to Kidnapping and Murder of Babcock Lecturer

In the investigation of the recent attack at the Ajadeh Event Centre in Iperu Remo, along Sagamu Road, the Ogun State Police Command has apprehended a key suspect connected to the kidnapping of two individuals and the murder of a Babcock University lecturer.

The incident, which occurred on the night of April 19, has prompted a thorough investigation by the police.

Naija News reports that nine masked assailants stormed the event center around 9:30 pm, shooting indiscriminately and attempting to kidnap patrons.

Yinka Olowojobi, a lecturer at Babcock University, was fatally shot in the chest during the attack when he resisted the kidnappers.

In addition to Olowojobi’s death, two individuals were kidnapped from the scene, one of whom has been identified as Dare, a manager at a car stand.

Omolola Odutola, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, provided details of the incident and subsequent police actions.

The police noted suspicious activities linked to a security officer at the event center, Awada Ishaya, a native of Plateau State, who was employed at the venue which had only opened two weeks prior to the incident.

Ishaya was taken into custody after the police observed suspicious activities connected to him.

“The police said suspicious occurrences led to him being flagged and brought in for detailed interrogation,” the spokesperson added.

As the investigation continues, the police are working to track down the remaining suspects involved in the attack and to ensure the safe return of the kidnapped victims.

The police have also urged anyone with information related to the incident to come forward to aid in the arrest of the remaining perpetrators.

The Ogun State Police Command is committed to ensuring the safety and security of its citizens and has promised to bring all those responsible for the heinous crime to justice.
