Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, will on Monday, January 12, 2026, perform the groundbreaking ceremony for the Otovwodo Junction Flyover in Ughelli, reinforcing his administration’s sustained push to upgrade critical urban infrastructure across the state.

The ceremony, scheduled for 11:00 a.m., was announced in a statement by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, who advised guests to be seated by 10:30 a.m. ahead of the event.

Construction activities have already commenced at the project site by the contractor, Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, underscoring the state government’s resolve to ensure the timely delivery of the landmark flyover.

The Otovwodo Junction Flyover is one of two newly approved flyover projects by the State Executive Council, coming on the heels of the near completion of three others at PTI Junction, DSC Roundabout, and Enerhen Junction in Warri, all awarded to Julius Berger by the Oborevwori administration.

The second newly approved flyover is sited at Uromi Junction in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area, where Julius Berger has also begun preliminary works, with the date for its groundbreaking ceremony to be announced later.

To ease traffic flow and minimise disruptions during construction at Otovwodo Junction, Governor Oborevwori had earlier ordered the construction of four adjoining roads—Ovie Palace Road, Okogbe Road, Oyakemeagbegha Street, and Edo Road—to decongest the busy corridor.

The flyover projects are key components of the administration’s wider infrastructure renewal programme aimed at improving traffic management, enhancing road safety, and stimulating economic activities across Delta State.
