North Central Stakeholders Demand Return of APC National Chairman Slot Amidst Political Intrigue

The political landscape in Nigeria is once again buzzing with intense debates and demands as a group known as Concerned Stakeholders in the All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on President Bola Tinubu and the National Executive Committee (NEC) of APC to ensure the North Central Zone regains the national chairman position.

This comes after the resignation of Senator Abdullahi Adamu, and the subsequent appointment of former Kano State governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, as the national chairman of the party.

The North Central Stakeholders’ demand for the return of the chairmanship to their region has sparked widespread discussions and analysis in political circles.

At a press conference on the previous day, addressed by a former APC national chairmanship aspirant, Mohammed Saidu Etsu, the group made a compelling case for the retention of the seat of the party chairman within the North Central Zone.

They highlighted the significant contribution of the region to President Bola Tinubu’s victory in the last general election, where the president received considerable support from the North Central, securing 41.3% of the votes cast.

This support, they argued, should be recognized and rewarded by allowing the North Central to continue to lead the party through its next phase.

The demand for the chairmanship to return to the North Central comes at a time when the current national chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, is facing challenges from his own ward in Kano State.

This political intrigue has added another layer of complexity to the already intricate dynamics of Nigerian politics.

The North Central Stakeholders’ appeal, therefore, serves as a reminder of the importance of respecting the party’s constitution and the principles of fairness, equity, and justice.

The group emphasized the abundance of competent and capable individuals within the North Central who could lead the party through its next phase, as the Tinubu administration focuses on delivering good governance to the Nigerian people.

They called on the party to prioritize the bigger picture and consider the North Central’s contribution to the party’s success in the last election.

Furthermore, the North Central Stakeholders urged the party to uphold the sanctity of Article 31.5 (I) of their constitution, which outlines the procedures for selecting the party’s leadership.

They also called on stakeholders and party leaders to support their aspiration, emphasizing that doing so would strengthen the party and unite all interests.

The North Central Stakeholders’ demand for the return of the APC national chairman position to their region underscores the importance of fairness, equity, and justice in Nigerian politics.

As the political landscape continues to evolve, it remains to be seen how President Bola Tinubu and the APC NEC will respond to these calls and whether they will prioritize the principles of democracy and inclusivity in their decision-making process.
