NNPP Urges FG to Rescue Remaining Chibok Girls, Improve School Safety

The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has called on the federal government to intensify efforts to rescue the remaining Chibok girls and ensure the safety of schools across the nation.

On the 10th anniversary of the abduction of 276 girls from a school in Chibok, the NNPP highlighted the ongoing challenges faced by the victims and their families, emphasizing the need for government action.

In a statement, the NNPP’s national publicity secretary, Ladipo Johnson, pointed out that despite the global condemnation and concern following the abduction in 2014, the country has witnessed further incidents of school children being kidnapped, exacerbating the security challenges in Nigeria.

Johnson acknowledged the government’s efforts in rescuing some of the girls and others in similar situations but urged the government to explore additional measures to locate and rescue the remaining girls from their captors, regardless of their current circumstances.

The statement emphasized the importance of not forgetting these girls and ensuring their rehabilitation and well-being.

The NNPP also raised concerns about the rehabilitation and support for the rescued girls and the implementation of the Safe School Programme, which aims to ensure the safety of schools in the country.

The party stressed the need for the government to address the recurring challenge of insecurity, especially in the education sector, considering its impact on the nation’s socio-economic development.

As Nigeria marks the 10th anniversary of the abduction of the Chibok girls, the NNPP’s call to action highlights the importance of government responsibility and the collective effort needed to address the issues of school safety and the rescue of the remaining victims.
