NNPP Stakeholders in Northern States Pass Vote of No Confidence on Kano Governor Yusuf

Stakeholders of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in the 19 Northern States have collectively passed a vote of no confidence on Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State.

This decision was made public through a communique issued on April 16, 2024, and signed by the President of the group, Hon. Attahiru Musa, and others.

The concerned NNPP stakeholders expressed their disappointment with the current state of affairs in Kano State, particularly in the governance of Governor Yusuf.

They argued that the NNPP leadership in Kano has fallen short of expectations, being “worse than the government at the centre and the previous administration.”

Governor Yusuf was initially hailed as a fresh start for Kano State, promising to deliver good governance and quality leadership to its residents.

However, the stakeholders contend that this vision has not been realized, leaving them disheartened and disillusioned.

They pointed out that the state was supposed to serve as a model for the Federal Government, but instead, it has failed to live up to its promise.

The rift between Governor Yusuf and his predecessor, Umar Ganduje, has been a point of contention.

Ganduje, now the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has been accused by the state government of financial misappropriation during his tenure as governor.

This ongoing dispute has contributed to the deteriorating relationship between the NNPP and the APC in Kano State.

The stakeholders’ decision to pass a vote of no confidence on Governor Yusuf is a clear indication of their dissatisfaction with his leadership and the direction the NNPP is heading in Kano State.

They believe that the party’s philosophy and principles have not been upheld, leading to a lack of effective governance and disappointment among the party’s supporters.

As the political situation in Kano State continues to unfold, the NNPP stakeholders’ call for a change in leadership underscores the challenges faced by the party and the need for a course correction to regain the trust and support of the people.
