Nigeria’s Vice President Urges Support Amid Challenges: A New Think Tank Emerges

Nigeria’s Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, called for the support of all Nigerians in the government’s efforts to address the challenges facing the country.

The event also marked the official inauguration and investiture of the Academy of International Affairs Nigeria, a private-led think tank aimed at contributing to foreign policy formulation and implementation.

Speaking at the event, Shettima acknowledged the severity of the country’s challenges but expressed faith in Nigeria’s ability to overcome them.

He emphasized the need for support, faith, and vision in order to create a future full of opportunities for the next generation of Nigerians.

The Vice President commended the emergence of the Academy of International Affairs, stating that its expertise and vision will be valuable assets in navigating the increasingly complex international environment.

He assured the Academy that the government’s doors would be open to their ideas and recommendations.

Former Head of State, Yakubu Gowon, who chaired the occasion, described the establishment of the Academy as timely, particularly with President Bola Tinubu leading the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

He urged the Academy to collaborate with the government to ensure Nigeria’s global leadership.

During the event, several distinguished individuals were inducted as fellows of the Academy, including Prof. Bolaji Akinyemi, Prof. Bola Akinterinwa, Amb. Godknows Igali, and Prof. Joy Ogwu, among others.

As Nigeria faces its challenges head-on, the collaboration between the government and the Academy of International Affairs Nigeria will be instrumental in shaping the country’s foreign policy and securing its rightful place as a global voice and leader.
