The NPSA president, Prof Hassan Saliu, highlighted the current issues facing Nigeria, including the high cost of living, insecurity, and a lack of national unity and cohesion.

The conference aims to provide a platform for political scientists to discuss these issues and propose solutions that can guide policymakers in overcoming these challenges.

The conference will feature notable speakers and guests, including the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Tajudeen Abass, as the chairman of the occasion, and Vice President Kashim Shettima as the distinguished special guest of honor.

Dr. Kayode Fayemi, former governor of Ekiti State, will deliver the keynote address, while Prof. Victor Adetula will present a lead paper.

Awards of Fellow of the NPSA will be conferred on several distinguished personalities, including Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, a former chief of staff to President Muhammadu Buhari.

This recognition highlights the association’s commitment to honoring individuals who have made significant contributions to the field of political science and the development of Nigeria.

The conference is expected to generate valuable insights and recommendations for addressing the governance and nation-building challenges faced by Nigeria.

The NPSA’s efforts to promote democracy and development through such initiatives demonstrate the importance of academic and intellectual engagement in addressing pressing national issues.

As Nigeria grapples with these challenges, the conference in Lokoja serves as a crucial step towards finding effective solutions and fostering a more united, secure, and prosperous nation.
