Niger Governor Mourns Loss of Captain, Soldiers in Bandit Attack

Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has confirmed the tragic death of a captain and five soldiers of the Nigerian Army in an ambush by bandits.

The incident occurred as the security personnel were responding to a distress call in the Bassa and Alawa communities of Shiroro local government area in Niger State.

Governor Bago expressed his condolences to the Nigerian Army and condemned the “atrocious, provocative, and unacceptable” attack in a statement released by his chief press secretary, Bologi Ibrahim.

He emphasized the daily sacrifices made by security agencies to ensure the safety of citizens, many of whom have paid the ultimate price in the line of duty.

The governor also extended his sympathies to the families of the slain officer and men, as well as a vigilante, reassuring them that their loss would not be in vain.

He pledged to continue providing the necessary support to security agencies in their efforts to combat banditry and other forms of insecurity in the state.
