NDLEA Seizes 1.2 Million Psychoactive Drugs in Adamawa, Yenagoa, and Ondo State Operations

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has made significant strides in combating drug trafficking across Nigeria.

In a series of recent operations in Adamawa, Yenagoa, and Ondo State, the agency seized a staggering 1,250,000 pills of psychoactive drugs weighing 450kg, along with other illicit substances.

The successful seizures were part of the NDLEA’s ongoing efforts to disrupt the distribution and consumption of illegal drugs in the country.

In Adamawa State, NDLEA operatives intercepted a car carrying the psychoactive drugs on its way to Mubi.

The agency also seized codeine syrup and tramadol hidden in auto spare parts in a bus traveling from Onitsha, Anambra.

Following a subsequent operation, the intended recipient of the drugs was arrested at Jambutu Motor Park in Adamawa.

In Yenagoa, three suspects aged between 40 and 68 years were arrested in connection with 69 compressed blocks of Indian hemp weighing 36kg.

The drugs were found concealed in a false compartment of a Toyota Picnic car in which the suspects were traveling.

In Imo State, the NDLEA arrested a 41-year-old man at Amajeke, Owerri, while he was taking delivery of 49 bottles of codeine syrup.

The agency also made arrests in Ondo State, where operatives destroyed 25,000kg of Indian hemp on a 10-hectare farmland in Oloro Camp, Ogbese, in Akure North Local Government Area.

Additionally, the NDLEA arrested three other suspects in connection with different drugs seizures in the state, with the total weight of the seized substances amounting to 77kg.

These operations underscore the NDLEA’s commitment to combating drug trafficking and the use of illegal substances in Nigeria.

The agency’s efforts have led to the arrests of several suspects and the disruption of drug supply chains across various states.

As the NDLEA continues to intensify its operations, it is expected that more seizures and arrests will be made in the coming months.

The NDLEA’s success in these operations serves as a reminder of the importance of ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and the need for continued vigilance in the fight against illicit substances in Nigeria.
