NDLEA Links Tin-can Drug Seizure to Cartel Operating at Airport

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has linked the recent seizure of 23 packages of heroin at the Tin-can Island port in Lagos to the same drug trafficking cartel operating at the nation’s airport in Lagos.

The NDLEA’s Tin-can Island boss, Mohammed Abubakar, made this connection while receiving the illicit drugs from the Tin-can Island Command of the Nigeria Customs Service.

Abubakar stated that the investigation into the drug seizure had uncovered the involvement of the same cartel that brought the recently seized heroin at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.

The NDLEA’s Special Intelligence Unit played a crucial role in providing the intelligence and processing it, which led to the successful seizure of the drugs.

The Tin-can Island Customs Command recently handed over seized items, including arms and ammunition, Indian hemp, and heroin, to the Department of States Security (DSS) and the NDLEA for further investigation.

The NDLEA’s efforts in linking this drug seizure to a larger drug trafficking syndicate demonstrate the agency’s commitment to combating the illicit drug trade in Nigeria.

By targeting the operations of this cartel, the NDLEA aims to disrupt the flow of drugs into the country and ultimately dismantle the criminal network behind it.

As the investigation into the Tin-can drug seizure continues, it remains to be seen what further connections will be uncovered and what actions the NDLEA and other law enforcement agencies will take to combat drug trafficking in Nigeria.
