The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has successfully conducted a crackdown on a fake cosmetics producer in Lagos.
The operation, carried out by NAFDAC's Investigation & Enforcement Directorate, uncovered the illegal activities of Mr. Pius Effiong Eyoh, the owner of Pasco Global Limited, located at the Balogun Trade Fair Gate, Trade Fair Complex, Lagos State.
During the operation, NAFDAC officials discovered that Eyoh was involved in the manufacturing, packaging, distribution, and sale of a range of substandard and counterfeit cosmetic products, including Skin Balance Perfect Knuckle Organic Peel Therapy, Golden Face Triple Action Concentrated Perfect Skin, and Skin Free Cream, among others.
The products bore false labels with French inscriptions and a Cameroonian address, misleading consumers into believing they were imported.
Following the discovery, NAFDAC sealed the illegal manufacturing premises and arrested Mr. Eyoh.
The agency has scheduled the seized substandard products for destruction, ensuring they do not make their way back into the market and harm unsuspecting consumers.
The crackdown is part of NAFDAC's ongoing efforts to safeguard public health by monitoring and controlling the quality of food, drugs, and other related products in Nigeria.
By taking decisive action against counterfeit and substandard product producers, NAFDAC aims to promote a safe and reliable market for consumers, while also encouraging legitimate businesses to thrive.
