Multichoice Nigeria Announces Price Hike for DStv and GOtv Packages Effective May 1, 2024

Multichoice Nigeria has announced a price increase across its DStv and GOtv packages, effective from May 1, 2024.
The company attributed the hike in subscription fees to the rise in the cost of business operations in Nigeria.
This marks the first price review of 2024 for Multichoice, which has previously increased prices at least thrice in 2023 following a $72 million loss in its third-quarter financial statement.
According to a notice signed by Multichoice CEO John Ugbe, the new prices for DStv packages include the Premium package now priced at N37,000 monthly, up from the current N29,500.
The Compact+ package will cost N25,000 as opposed to the previous N19,800. DStv subscribers on the Compact package will now pay N15,700, a rise from N12,500, while those on the Confam package will be charged N9,300, up from N7,400.
For viewers on the DStv Yanga bouquet, the monthly subscription fee has increased to N5,100 from N4,200.
Padi subscribers will see a rise to N3,600 from the current N2,950. HDPVR Access subscribers will now pay N5,000, up from N4,000.
GOtv users are also affected by the price increase, with the Supa Plus package now priced at N15,700, up from N12,500.
The Supa package will cost N9,600 as opposed to the current N7,600. GOtv Max subscription has increased to N7,200 from N5,700, while its Jolli package will now cost N4,850 from N3,950. Users of the lowest GOtv package, Jinja, will see a rise to N3,300 monthly, up from N2,700.
In light of these changes, Multichoice Nigeria has acknowledged the impact this may have on its customers, emphasizing its commitment to providing the best entertainment and viewing experience despite the rise in operational costs.
The company has stated that it remains dedicated to delivering high-quality content and unparalleled service to its subscribers.
As the economic situation in Nigeria continues to evolve, this latest price adjustment by Multichoice Nigeria reflects the challenges faced by businesses in the country.
Consumers are encouraged to review their subscription plans and make any necessary adjustments as they prepare for the new pricing structure to take effect on May 1, 2024.
