Makinde Swears in New President of Oyo Customary Court of Appeal: Justice Tajudeen Mohammed Abdulganiyu

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has sworn in Justice Tajudeen Mohammed Abdulganiyu as the newly-appointed President of the Oyo State Customary Court of Appeal.

The ceremony took place in the Governor’s office in Ibadan on Monday, April 22, 2024.

During the event, Governor Makinde emphasized that the appointment of Justice Abdulganiyu followed due process and was devoid of any political, religious, or ethnic bias.

He explained that Abdulganiyu was recommended to the National Judicial Council (NJC) for the position and was duly confirmed, highlighting the state’s commitment to following the proper procedures and doing what is right.

The Governor also noted that the new President of the Customary Court of Appeal is a Muslim and hails from Igbeti, a town in the Oke-Ogun region of the state.

This further showcases the administration’s non-discriminatory approach in its appointments, as the Chief Judge is from Ibadan, the Deputy Governor is from Oke Ogun, and now the President of the Customary Court of Appeal is also from Oke Ogun.

Governor Makinde assured Justice Abdulganiyu of the state’s support in his new role, pointing to the cordial relationship that has existed between the state government and the judiciary over the past five years.

With Justice Tajudeen Mohammed Abdulganiyu now at the helm of the Customary Court of Appeal in Oyo State, the state’s judicial system is poised to continue its commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring fair and impartial administration of justice.
