The Federal Government has announced that the Lagos-Sagamu Expressway’s Long Bridge will undergo repairs to its damaged expansion joints starting Monday, March 4, 2024.
Mrs Olukorede Kesha, the Federal Controller of Works in Lagos State, made the announcement in a statement on Friday night.
She stated that the repair works would begin simultaneously on both bounds of the bridge and would last until March 25.
The repair work will narrow traffic to two lanes on both sides of the bridge, and road users are advised to be patient and adhere to lane discipline on both approaches to the Long Bridge and around the narrowed sections on the bridge.
An alternative route has been made available to ease traffic congestion during the repair period.
An earth road beside the Sagamu bound carriageway will be made motorable to serve as a complimentary road for other road users.
The Federal Ministry of Works has urged motorists to cooperate with the traffic management officials deployed to manage traffic and ensure a smooth flow of traffic during the repair period.
The repair work on the Long Bridge of the Lagos-Sagamu Expressway is a step towards ensuring safer and smoother road conditions for all road users.
