Kano State Government Invests Over ₦68 Million in Media Equipment Upgrade and Staff Training

The Kano State Government has made a significant investment of over ₦68 million in upgrading radio and video studios, and other media and publicity enablers, in an effort to improve the state’s media capabilities.

This move is part of a continued process to standardize media enablers in the state, which began over 10 years ago.

In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the Kano State Commissioner for Information, Alhaji Halilu Dantiye, elaborated on the state’s efforts to improve its media infrastructure and personnel.

He emphasized the importance of training and capacity building for media operators, stating that the ministry had trained about 300 staff members, including information officers, to ensure they are well-equipped to handle the upgraded equipment.

In addition to the media equipment upgrade, the Kano State Government is also investing in the development of its social media presence.

Special reporters and social media enthusiasts have been appointed to help project the affairs of the state government.

These individuals will also receive training on the rudiments of news dissemination and management.

Broadcasters in the state will also receive training on the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) codes of broadcasting to ensure that they adhere to media laws and ethics.

The state government’s commitment to providing a well-rounded training program for its media personnel highlights its dedication to maintaining a high standard of media practice.

The Kano State Government has also implemented measures to ensure that its media personnel are well taken care of.

These measures include the consistent and timely payment of salaries, as well as the provision of accommodation in media houses for those who work late shifts.

This ensures that workers can start their shifts early in the following day, promoting efficiency and productivity.

The Kano State Government’s investment in media equipment upgrades, staff training, and other support measures demonstrates its commitment to improving the state’s media capabilities and promoting a high standard of media practice.
