The Kano Police have announced their readiness to provide adequate security for the upcoming visit of Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, to the state on March 2.
In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the state Commissioner of Police, Hussaini Gumel, assured the public of their commitment to ensuring a safe and secure environment for the Senate President during his visit.
“We have mobilized sufficient armed personnel to provide security cover for our Sen. President before, during, and after the visit,” said Gumel.
“We will not tolerate any act capable of breaching the security in the state.”
The Kano Police have also deployed personnel to secure all roads and intersections leading to the Bayero University, Kano, from the Malam Aminu International Airport and other land terminus.
Recognizing the magnitude of the task, the Kano Police Command is partnering with other security agencies to ensure a seamless and hitch-free visit for Senator Akpabio.
During his visit, Senator Akpabio will be attending the 38th convocation of the Bayero University, where he will witness the conferment of an honorary doctorate to the Deputy Senate President, Sen. Barau Jibrin.
The President of the African Development Bank, Dr. Akinwunmi Adeshina, will also be honored with a similar award for their contributions to the university.
