Kano Governor Appoints Kwankwaso’s Son as Commissioner Amidst Political Intrigue

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has nominated the son of his political mentor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, for appointment as a commissioner in his cabinet.

This intriguing move has sparked interest in the political landscape of Kano State, as the appointment of Mustapha Kwankwaso, son of the influential Kwankwaso, brings forth a new chapter in the state’s governance.

The Kano State House of Assembly received the governor’s nomination on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, for consideration and confirmation.

In addition to Mustapha Kwankwaso, the name of a former Commissioner for Land and Physical Planning, Adamu Aliyu Kibiya, was also presented to the state lawmakers for confirmation.

Kibiya was previously dismissed in September 2023 for issuing a death threat to judges of the state’s governorship electoral petition tribunal.

A statement from Kamaluddeen Sani Shawai, the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, confirmed the governor’s decision to appoint Kwankwaso’s son, Kibiya, and two other individuals as commissioners.

The statement further revealed that Governor Yusuf plans to establish four new ministries – the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Eradication, the Ministry of Solid Minerals Resources, the Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy, and the Ministry of Internal Security and Special Service.

The establishment of these ministries is intended to enhance efficiency and performance in the state.

Prior to his appointment, Mustapha Kwankwaso served as the administrator of Key Special Academy, a private school owned by his father, located in the Gwarinpa area of the Federal Capital Territory.

This appointment marks a significant milestone in the political career of Mustapha Kwankwaso and has the potential to influence the dynamics of Kano State politics in the coming years.

With the appointment of Kwankwaso’s son and the creation of new ministries, Governor Yusuf’s administration is poised to embark on a new era in Kano State’s governance.

As the political landscape continues to evolve, it remains to be seen how these developments will shape the future of Kano State and its residents.
