Kano Anti-Graft Agency Accuses Ganduje of Diverting State Funds, Changing Naira to Dollars

The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCCAC) has accused the former governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje, of allegedly stealing billions of state funds during his tenure.

The Chairman of the PCCAC, Muhuyi Magaji, revealed that the anti-corruption commission has traced N51.3 billion allegedly diverted by Ganduje while he was in office.

In an interview on Arise TV, Magaji disclosed that the funds traced by the commission were half of the over N100 billion meant for Local Government in the state.

According to the PCCAC chairman, the funds were channeled to various local government accounts, after which false expenditures were created with payment vouchers, and the money was then diverted through a third party.

Magaji further stated that the commission tracked a lot of the diverted funds to individual accounts in the single market and subsequently took the money in cash to the state government house, where it was counted and changed to dollars.

The dollars were then allegedly taken to certain individuals. A bureau de change testified that money was sent to him and how it was changed to dollars.

The PCCAC chairman also revealed that about 200 people confessed to how the Ganduje-led administration directed them to pad up their expenditure.

They admitted that they took this money and falsely claimed to have purchased various items for hospitals and other government institutions, but the money was not used for its intended purpose.

Magaji emphasized that the commission has gathered strong and verifiable evidence to take the case to court.

He pointed out that the anti-corruption agency has established N51.3 billion as the amount diverted by the Ganduje administration, and it is determined to ensure that justice is served.

This development serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing efforts to combat corruption and ensure transparency in governance.

The Kano State government, under the leadership of the current governor, has pledged to continue its fight against corruption and work towards ensuring that public funds are utilized for the benefit of the people.
